You may know me as the owner of KAY’S Petals & Plants (now retired), as a St. Clair Township Councillor, as an Optimist Member, as the person who delivered your groceries during the pandemic, as a friend, or you may not know me at all.
I moved to the wonderful village of Corunna with my parents, Al and Kay, and my sister Krista 50 years ago. I married my husband Rob who is a retiree of Shell Canada after a 35 year career in 1986. We are proud of our 2 daughters we raised in Corunna. Nicole is a Civil Engineering Graduate of Western currently working as a Civil Engineer EIT. Allison is working on her Master’s Degree in Migration and Diasporas Studies after completing a Political Science and Communications Degree at Carleton University.
Rob and I along with Denver our spunky husky/Australian cattle dog are enjoying our home in rural St. Clair Township just outside of Corunna. My sister is involved in the pharmaceutical industry and lives in Corunna with her husband Jim. I also have 3 step-siblings who are the children of my step-father George Hammond. My in-laws, Bob and Julie Kingston are long-time Corunna residents.
Being on Council is a big part of my live but I enjoy reading, especially biographies and historical fiction, classic cars, and driving the back roads discovering unique places while enjoying the scenery.
I am extremely appreciative of what my community has done for me and the opportunities I’ve had through my business and working with many great organizations.
In 2014 I took up the challenge to run for Council. Following in my Grandfather’s footsteps (Grandpa Telford was a Councillor in Orillia), I wanted to be a fresh voice at the table, offer new ideas and really get to know how Municipal Government works. As Mayor I would also become a Lambton County Councillor.
If elected Mayor in 2022, I want to continue advocating for residents and lead a committed, visionary Council to make healthy decisions for the good of our community.
